Frankenstein is novel written by Shelly. In Frankenstein, Captain Walton is telling the story. He sets out to explore the North Pole and expand his scientific knowledge in hopes of achieving fame, his ship becomes trapped in an ice field near the North Pole, and Walton discovers Victor Frankenstein, who reveals a story of his life’s miseries created by his obsession for wisdom. In Shelley’s Frankenstein, Shelley portrays ideas about progress, optimism, liberty, fate, happiness, nature, and the physical world in a manner that supports Enlightenment attitudes. The Enlightenment was a time where science was researched, trying to find the answers to every conceivable question on earth.
