Ireland peace wall or peace line is the wall that separate Irish nationalists and unionists. Most of nationalists are Catholics and most of unionists are Protestants. Before the wall was built, there were continuous conflicts occurred around this area. People shot each other or burnt opposite side’s houses and other violence occurred.
The wall itself is three miles length which is 5 km and 25 feet high which is about 7.6 m. A unique fact about this wall is that people are allowed to pass through this wall freely during the daytime. However the gates are closed in night time and weekends. Also the research says 69% of residents live near this area believed they still need this wall.
