본문내용
For thousands of years after 30,000 BCE, there was a flurry of artistic and creative activity. The works made by the Paleolithic (Old Stone Age) people are varied and these works range from shell necklaces to animal and human forms in clay, stone, and ivory to gigantic engravings, paintings, and relief sculptures that cover wide areas of cave surfaces. During the Paleolithic period, mankind ventured beyond recognizing human and animal forms in the natural environment to representing animals and humans. This achievement’s immensity can never be exaggerated.<중 략>
The initial theories about the female figures were developed by male archaeologists in the 19th century. It is also understandable that nude female representations impacted heavily the prudish Victorian age’s scientific community. While the support for the Mother Goddess is more prevalent in the Neolithic Age, there are also theories that support that the Paleolithic figurines are also cosmologically important and ritualistic depictions of a more ancient Mother Goddess appear more frequently.
