본문내용
According to the Asian language notes (Australian government publishing service, 1984), Koreans have problems with producing ‘TH’ sounds and it is best that they are practiced by comparing with ‘t’, ‘d’, ‘s’, and ‘z’. They also suggest Korean students be practiced ‘i’ and ‘i:’, although they should have no great difficulty producing them. I am not so sure about this point because I have found many Korean students who do not say ‘i:’ properly. They tend to sound like short vowel ‘i’.

Minimal pairs practice
Time: 20 minutes
In this activity, learner will practice with minimal pairs.
i) Learner will be given a list of minimal pairs of ‘i’ and ‘i:’ (ex/ ‘hill’ and ‘heel’) and listen and repeat after the teacher
ii) Then the teacher will read the words.
iii) He will then tick the word that he hears. (ex/ ‘hill’ or ‘heel’?)
iv) The teacher, or his partner will later check to see if he got them right.
v) As a follow up, the learner himself will read the minimal pair list alone and if possible, compose a short rhyme with the target feature.
