Night Flying Woman is a story in the tradition of the Ojibway people. The Ojibway are known in their own language as Anishinabe, original people. Their language and culture are based on an oral tradition. Children were taught the importance of listening to the Old Ones, for “it has always been the custom for us to tell what must be passed on so that our ways will be known to the Ojibway children of the future.”
