On terminology
Noun(N) : single words (book, example, man, tradition, woman)
Noun Phrase(NP) : Article + N / Adjectives + N (the book, a woman, some good examples)
⇒ Pronoun ⇎ Noun / Pronoun ⇔ Whole Noun Phrase
On being ungrammatical
asterisk(*) - 'ungrammatical in the context indicated'
[4] *She is in stay.
☼ preposition (e.g. in, on, at) + nouns / noun phrases
But, stay is a verb.
However, there is a state called stay(N) and it could sound quite appropriate and meaningful in the context.
• 'being ungrammatical' - using forms and structures in ways that they are not generally used, and for which no special context of use can be imagined.
