Clara went with her husband to Sheffield, and Paul scarcely saw her again. Walter Morel seemed to have let all the trouble go over him, and there he was, crawling about on the mud of it, just the same.
클라라는 남편을 따라 세필드로 떠났다. 폴은 그녀를 보지 못했다. 아버지(Walter Morel)는 모든 고난이 자신에게 덤벼들도록 내버려 두는 것 같았다. 마치 진흙위에서 뒹구는 것처럼 헤매면서, 예전과 마찬가지였다 (여전히 그 모습 그대로였다).
There was scarcely any bond between father and son, save that each felt he must not let the other go in any actual want.
