본문내용
In the ending of “The Yellow Wallpaper,” the narrator seeking for “anything to stand on” and the description that she is “securely fastened” by a “rope” strongly alludes to the hanging of the narrator (656). After her death, the woman behind the wallpaper, a creation of the narrator’s mind, comes to life, indicated by the woman’s words that she has “come out of the wall paper” (656). The narrator’s death arouses questions as to whether the narrator triumphs over the patriarchal society.
