Heat transfer is the flow of heat energy produced by the temperature difference at different locations. There are conduction, convection, and thermal radiation in modes of heat transfer. We will deal with convection heat transfer in this experiment. In this experiment, we will use two methods to calculate the convective heat transfer coefficient. One is using Newton's cooling law, and the other is using Nusselt number. For the calculation, the temperature difference between the heater and the air and the pressure difference will be measured. We calculate the Reynolds number from the flow velocity. It is then possible to determine whether the flow is laminar, turbulent or transitional. The convection heat transfer coefficient can be calculated by obtaining the appropriate Nusselt number depending on the type of flow. We will discuss the differences between convection heat transfer coefficients obtained by each methods to understand the causes of the differences.
