4. Deductive-based task: the graphic image can be used in the deductive way to teach indirect questions. Students will get to know that subject and auxiliary are not inversed. They also would find out ‘if’ or ‘whether’ is needed if there is not interrogatives. .
5. Merits
-By showing a picture and a graphic image, students can notice how to change direct questions into indirect ones. The process of the change is shown through the table above.
- It is time-saving because the textbook explicitly shows grammar points.
- The textbook gives a picture and specific situation. It helps students fully understand how to use indirect questions. For example, the direct questions like “What is the answer?” is changed into the indirect questions “I know what the answer is.” Such expression is useful in classroom English
Demerits
-It is too controlled. Students need to make their own sentences by using the form of indirect questions.
