Smith Group is a British multinational technology company that has five divisions. John Crane is a manufacturer of seals and customised industry products. Smiths Medical is a manufacturer and supplier of medical devices and equipment. Smiths Detection is the largest manufacturer of sensors for the detection of explosives, weapons and chemicals. Smiths Interconnect is a manufacturer of electronic components. Lastly, Flex-Tek is a supplier of components to aerospace, construction, medical and industrial sectors.
Creating value through sustainable growth: Smiths group has repositioned their business portfolios, as such the company now focuses on targeted markets and new growth markets, such as Asia. In a step towards sustainable growth, the company made a major acquisition in the detection industry and trimmed the non-beneficial aspects of its portfolio by selling four non-core businesses.
