1. Executive Summary
After acquiring KIVA in 2012, Amazon.com, Inc. has shown a significant movement with the automation of logistic management. Contradicting with their aggressive approach to virtual supply chain management, the company has been going towards a conventional material management system. So far, KIVA has contributed to the company in terms of efficiency and cost accelerating the company’s growth. With KIVA and the company’s upcoming plan including Amazon Prime Air (a drone-based delivery system), Amazon expects to expand its area to logistic field threatening existing companies which are its delivery vendors.

2. Introduction of Amazon
Since launching on July 1994, Amazon.com, Inc. is enjoying being the biggest online shopping mall in the world at the moment. Amazon surpassed Walmart’s market value in 2015 and is leading the US retail market. It deals with 2 billion items and has around 0.3 billion users. With their impressive growth and fast pace, it is threatening offline shops.
