Many countries today are becoming more and more unwelcoming regarding nuclear power as a source of energy. Nuclear energy is because generally known for its detrimental effect to human health and nuclear waste can be extremely hazardous because of its high emission of radiation. For one of these instances, nuclear power is recently a big issue in South Korea. South Korean president made an election pledge to phase out South Korea’s use of nuclear energy. Following months of debate, the citizen’s jury announced that it recommended construction of the two nuclear units should be resumed. Although the citizens’ panel decided that stopping two expensive projects in midstream was not advisable, a majority of the members expressed their support for reducing nuclear energy in South Korea and, the government announced that the construction of other new reactors will not be allowed (The Economist, 2017).
Some people consist that nuclear is the best way to generate electricity since nuclear power plants do not produce greenhouse gases as do those powered by coal or natural gas as well as it has high efficiency.
