1.0 OBJECTIVE
This experiment is to find out 1) energy of boiler steam in power system lab and 2) how to calculate boiler properties, using interpolation method.
2.0 EQUIPMENT
1) Steam Table
2) Scientific Calculator
3.0 METHOD
1) Boiler normally operate from 80 psig to 100 psig
2) Find out those properties with assumption on which steam quality of boiler is dry saturated steam.
- Operating Temperature
- Specific volume
- Specific Enthalpy
3) Compare the specific enthalpies at the different pressures since the entering of cold feed-water decreases the boiler temperature to the lowest value.
4) Compare the specific volumes at the different steam temperature.
4.0 OBSERVATIONS
Interpolation
Interpolation is a way of constructing new unknown data points within the range of a discrete set of known data points.
Simple formula can be set as follows
5.0 CALCULATIONS
1) Dry Saturated Steam properties at 80 psig and 100 psig
