본문내용
Also known as a snow monkey, Japanese Macaque is a medium-sized monkey with a relatively short tail. Their faces are pinkish red in color and have long fur with shades of brown and gray. They inhabit subtropical or subalpine deciduous, broadleaf, and evergreen forests, where harsh winters are inevitable. (Hardman) These monkeys do not hibernate, and therefore their thick fur becomes the survival necessity during cold winters. Similarly, their fur tends to be lighter during summer and the same species living in relatively warmer region weigh less. (Hardman) They have human-like naked faces, expressive eyes, and opposable thumbs that are used to manipulate objects. (Foley) Although they typically use all four legs to move around, they were many times appeared on their two feet especially when holding an object in their hands.
Likewise, Japanese Macaques share many traits with humans; social bonds among the members of their group are very important.
