Double–Pipe Heat Exchanger Experiment
2. Objective
The most commonly used heat transfer equipment is the heat exchanger. In this experiment, the characteristics of double-pipe heat exchanger are examined. In the double-pipe heat exchanger, one fluid flows on the inside of the smaller tube while the other fluid flows in the annular space between the two tubes. The overall heat transfer coefficient (U) is measured based on the simple heat transfer equation.

6. Summary
In this experiment ‘Double–Pipe Heat Exchanger Experiment’, our objective is to learn about the principle of double pipe heat exchanger. We calculated logarithmic mean temperature by using temperature data of hot and cold fluid, and then obtained heat transfer and overall heat transfer coefficient.
At the double pipe heat exchanger, there are two different flows which are co-current flow and counter current flow. These have different heat transfer and overall heat transfer coefficient.
