Are scientists critical? It is conventionally believed that scientists don’t just believe what are are told, instead, they research to obtain cold, hard evidence. And they will come to their own conclusions based on what they see. Furthermore, it is easy to assume that the critical nature of scientists make science so successful. This would allow us to quickly identify and correct the errors to, ultimately, seek the truth.
But Thomas Kuhn, an American physicist, historian, and philosopher of science, developed an extremely influential account of science, according to which the idea that science is critical, is mostly an illusion most of the time.
