본문내용
1. Finite state machine
Finite state machine is a mathematical model that was created to understand and design computer programs and digital logic. It is used to simulate sequential logic which delivers finite states. It can have only one state at a time, and it can be defined as a list of the current state and the triggering condition.
In finite state machine, change is made by both current state and input signal. It means that state can be changed even when same input signals are given. As can be seen in pic 1, FSM is consist of combinational logics and state register. State register stores present state and finds next state. The combinational logic calculates the output and following state. The state diagram is shown in pic 2 and it shows change of state and output. It shows that changes are determined by the current state and input. In summary, FSM is used to change states according to a series of events.
