본문내용
We also learn she agrees to leave he home but she is having second thoughts. “Was that wise?”- Well this is the [free indirect discourse] of course. “She had consented to go away, to leave her home.”- This is the narrator’s description and it suddenly mixes with thought of Eveline.
She begins to raise pros and cons. At home, she has food and shelter, all her friends people she know on her live. She also has work. She has house work to do but also she has the job. “What would they say of her in the Stores when they found out that she had run away with a fellow?”. So we learn that maybe in a department store, it seems that she fairly has a good job. But we get a flashback – Miss Gavan would be glad of her leaving. “She always had an edge on her” - they didn’t get along especially when people are listening. Then we jump to the memory. So in her mind replaying. - “Miss Hill, don’t you see these ladies are waiting. Look lively, Miss Hill, please.”.
