Using above Time – Temperature table, we can draw three cooling curves for each cyclohexane, solution 1, and solution 2. For all the cooling curves below, two or three arbitrary intervals were set to estimate the state of the material for each section. Also, on the basis of the division, we can obtain the freezing temperature from the cooling curve by extrapolating. The blue, orange, and green colors each mean the curve of liquid phase, liquid and solid mixed, and solid phase.
Theoretically, the freezing point of pure cyclohexane should be horizontally on the graph. In this graph, the middle section, orange line should have been, but it wasn’t. The freezing point could not be specified as the temperature continued to change over time, indicating a small slope with no constant temperature. For this reason, the freezing point was decided by solving two simultaneous equations at both ends of liquid & solid phase to minimize the error.
