Food delivery service is one of the most interesting cultural aspects in Korea. It is very common for Koreans to eat chicken and beer with friends at the Han River, or get meals and coffee delivered to their offices. Then what has made the food delivery market larger and what are the effects of it?
First, food delivery has become so popular because of advances in technology. As the number of mobile phone users increased, food delivery service apps have begun to be used for everyday meals. To order quickly and pay easily with mobile phones, people now order food by delivery apps rather than by phone call. A survey reported that 85% of 20s and 77% of 30s use the apps everyday. There are some delivery apps in Korea, and the most used one is Baemin.
