Today, Africa is suffering from the inaccessibility of electricity. The annual quantity used per person in Africa was 613kWh, which is the lowest in the world. Moreover, the 53% of the people who lacks accessibility of electricity were Africans(AFDB,2020). Although Sub-Saharan-Africa’s population is 18 times of Spain, the electricity use is 2 times less than Spain’s use(The economist,2016). This shows how severe the electricity deficiency is happening in Africa.
This happens because states lacks the infrastructure for electricity. As productivity is low, the price of electricity is relatively high. SSA people spend 15% of their income to use electricity, which is the highest rate in the world(OECD,2014).
