본문내용
In this semester, we have read and discussed many works of minority groups in the U.S.A. Almost every works were focused on a conflict between different races - the White race, the Black race and the diverse immigrant groups.
We know a history of the U.S.A. is a history of the immigration. Even the people who we call "American" now are also immigrants at first. Somebody compare the U.S.A. to a big melting pot or a salad bowl, it means there are so many races in there. But at least in those works which we dealt, the U.S.A. is not a melting pot yet. Because a word said "a melting pot" or "a salad bowl" suggests that all groups are mixed with other groups, but there are more conflicts than harmony. Even in family which is the smallest and the most intimate social group, there are many misunderstands and arguements. In Korea, many groups have difficulties though they are organized one race. Then we can guess a conflict is a bigger issue in the U.S.A. than in Korea. Because they have many different cultures, ways of thinking and viewpoints.
