On the p-side, there is an abundance of holes, while on the n-side, there are many electrons. Each electron and hole serves as carriers and diffuses in opposite directions. At the junction between N and P, due to diffusion, electrons and holes end up being present on the opposite sides, resulting in an electric field generated from the n-side to the p-side. This electric field leads to drift current in the opposite direction, ultimately resulting in a net current of 0. Therefore, the following equation is obtained.
