Have you ever think how Korean girls are mostly thin and beautiful? When I go out on a street and take a look at the woman around me, I can hardly find girls with a plain face, or a woman who is plump. What can you see? I can say, woman try very hard to be attractive to others. They buy new clothes, they put on make-up, and they go on a diet. Some even have a plastic surgery. Why do women work so hard to become charming and beautiful? I guess, people tend to judge women by their appearance rather than by their personality or ability, especially in Korea. It's absolutely wrong, but that's the way it is in this country. Now, I'm going to tell you about a few examples of that kind of judgement.
First, turn on the TV and take a look at the young women singers. You may notice that hardly any of them don't have a pretty look or a slim figure. Practically all of them are graceful and sophisticated. The ploblem is that they don't look much like singers nor do they sing like one. Instead, they look more like actresses. Today singing well isn't that important anymore. On the other hand, having good looks seem to be essential to a singer. I'm not saying singers shouldn't be pretty. But before that, she should be able to sing well. I'd say it's time people realize what it really takes to become a decent singer.
