Endless green fields, sparkling stars, dense forest, the golden desert sands.. The view of paradise was there, Mongolia
On the first day of our arrival at the small airport in Ulaanbaatare, capital of Mongolia, it felt more like a train station than an international destination. Someone cried out, “Are we abroad or still in Korea?” It was really like being in Korean province rather than another country. But when I deplaned, it was then I saw the terminal crowded with tourists, and customs officers making rigorous inspections, and duty free shops selling ‘ Genghis Khan’ wine. All these things got me to realize that I had entered Mongolia where descendants of Genghis khan, who once ruled over the whole Asian territory, live. With great anticipation, we began our fascinating journey into the heart of Mongolia.
It was steaming hot in summer, which must have been similar to those of Texas. We tried Mongolian food every lunchtime in restaurants without air conditioner systems, even fans! However, we did not give up with a sense of duty like “When you are in Mongolia, eat as Mongolians eat.” The most enjoyed dish among our members was the food called “hoshore.” The main characteristic of their food was cooking with lamb as a main ingredient. hoshore was not an exception. It was served with “Sautae tea,” milk of the goat. After warming yourself with the tea, they brought you hoshore with flour, showing its pure white outside and stuffed full with lamb inside.
