▸ 집에서 인터넷을 사용하는 수백만의 인터넷 사용자

3. Name three protocols that make up the PPP stack.
(1) LCP : 링크의 설정, 유지, 형성과 해제를 담당한다. 또한 두 단말 간의 선택사항들을
결정하기 위한 협상기능을 제공한다. 모등 LCP 패킷은 PPP 프레임의 페이로드 필드를 이
용하여 전송된다. PPP 프레임의 프로토콜 필드 값이 C021(16)이면 이 프레임은 LCP 패킷을
운송하는 프레임이다.

(2) PAP : 프로토콜 필드의 값이 C023(16) 이다. PAP 패킷에는 인증요구(authenticate-
request), 인증확인응답(authenticate-ack)과 인증부정응답(authenticate-nak)의 세 가지가
있다.

(3) CHAP : PAP보다 놓은 보안을 제공하는 3방향 핸드쉐이크(3-way handshake) 인증
프로토콜이다. 특히 시스템이 계속 챌린지 값을 변경하면 더욱 안전하다. 침입자가 챌린지 값과 결과값을 알게 되더라도 패스워드는 여전히 비밀이다.

5. Discuss the control field if the PPP frame.
▸ 제어필드는 HDLC의 U 프레임의 형식을 사용한다. 값은 11000000 이며, 이 값은 이 프
레임이 시퀀스 번호를 포함하지 않고 이에 따른 흐름제어나 오류제어를 하지 않음을 나
타낸다.
