Technology has become one of the most significant essential elements to people’s life in modern times. As technology has spread to extensive range of industries, a number of companies are now taking technology into a deep consideration. According to ‘The future of management (1996)’ 99 percent of technologies that have been used currently will disappear or be completely transformed within approximately 50 years. Due to the fact that technology has dramatically been transformed and developed itself, owners or managers of an organization need to consider the best way of utilizing technology to keep up the pace with customers’ expectation. This fact has also applied to hospitality industry and it generally provides a various benefits to both hotels and guests. However, the issues of whether technology has more positive or negative effects have been raised. The purpose of this essay is to identify, discuss and critically analyse information technology, which has affected management, operations and the guest experience in hotels and resorts, to see whether it is destroying service within the organizations.
