본문내용
Ethnicity is based on having common ancestors. However, most countries are not now composed of one ethnicity because immigrants and foreign workers have become a common phenomenon in the world. Interestingly, the texts we have read in class are mostly written by Germans actually from other countries. This multiculturalism means that the writers are not strictly members of German ethnic group. Even though Ika in “Invisible Woman” was born in Germany, and had a German mother, she suffered from discrimination by Germans due to her skin color. Also, in “The Shadow Man,” Amo and Tamao are treated as strangers by Germans. Therefore, Ika, Amo, and Tamao have had common experiences in that they all struggled with ethnic stereotypes. However, their ways of dealing with the stereotypes were different.
