본문내용
Meaningful architecture often comprises an understandable design approach, intent and philosophy. These can be based on various issues of: Site, Formal, Social, Economic, Political and Aesthetic. One should be able to trace the influences of a meaningful design to the designer’s intent.
In an effort to understand the diversity and complexity that encompasses meaningful Architecture we will investigate the development of a design approach through the career and accomplishments of an individual architect and/or architectural firm. This paper will focus on the architectural theory, design and style on one of the famous Danish architect named Jorn Utzon.
Jorn Utzon is one of those architects in Denmark who showed interest in architectural theory during the early years after the war in the said country despite the shortage of materials at that time which hindered the realization of novel and new-fangled ideas in practical building form. Jorn Utzon possesses that zeal “to find a dynamic architecture with feeling and an organic structure searching for close contact with nature” (Faber, 1963 pp. 204). He “was a vital and talented guide to the discovery of new expressions for new architectural tasks, new materials and forms of construction, all to be discovered within conditions set by these things themselves” (Faber, 1963 pp. 204).
