본 연구는 정신지체학교 교사의 정신지체아학급의 효과적인 좌석배치에 관한 인식을 살펴보기 위한 연구로써 전남․북지역의 11개의 정신지체학교 교사 213명을 대상으로 설문지를 사용하여 조사․분석하였다. 그 결과 정신지체 학교 교사는 정신지체아 학습자간의 상호작용에 대면형이 효율적이라고 인식하였으며, 정신지체아 학습자의 학습수행에는 U자형과 대면형이 효과적이라고 인식하였다. 또한 교과목별로 볼 때 기본교과에는 U자형과 대면형이, 음악과에는 U자형이, 미술과와 작업과는 대면형이 적합하다고 인식하였다. 즉 정신지체아를 지도하는 교사는 상황에 따른 가장 적합한 좌석배치에 대한 관심을 지속적으로 가질 필요가 있음을 시사한다.영어 초록
The present study attempted to examine the teacher's perception of the effective seat arrangement in the classrooms for the mentally retarded. The consequent purpose is to investigate the teacher's perception of seat arrangement types, which are effective in attracting the attention of the students with mental retardation; in facilitating interaction between the learners; and in promoting their learning performance, as well as which are proper for each subject. A questionnaire survey was conducted to 213 teachers of the schools for the mentally retarded located in Jeollanamdo and Jeollabukdo.The consequent result is as follows:
First, teachers of the schools for the mentally retarded perceived that face-to-face arrangement was effective in facilitating interaction between the learners. Especially, more than half of the teachers perceived that the seat arrangement, by which mutual imitation and communication between the learners were best achieved, was face-to-face arrangement. This tendency of perception was higher in the teachers with a teaching experience longer than 10 years than those with shorter than 10 years of experience. Besides, most of the teachers perceived that this arrangement was best for peer teaching between the learners. This tendency was higher in the teachers with longer than 10 years of teaching experience; with qualifications for both special and general education than other teachers.
Second, teachers of the schools for the mentally retarded perceived that U-shaped arrangement was effective in their student's learning performance. Especially, most of the teachers perceived that the seat arrangement, by which following teacher's instruction is best achieved and that was most effective in individual learning, was U-shaped arrangement. This tendency of perception was higher in the teachers with a teaching experience shorter than 10 years than longer than 10 years.
Third, teachers of the schools for the mentally retarded perceived that U-shaped and face-to-face arrangements were suitable for the basic subjects; U-shaped for music subject, and; face-to-face for art and operation subjects. Especially, most of the teachers perceived that face-to-face arrangement was best for art subject. Thistendency of perception was higher in the teachers with a teaching experience longer than 10 years than shorter than 10 years. A substantial number of teachers perceived that face-to-face arrangement was best for operation subject. Elementary school teachers showed higher perception of this than middle/high school teachers.
